Escaping the Cascade
As you know, Brainrot is the decline of human cognitive and creative powers. The "creative" part is significant. We believe that despite how many more "creations" people seem to be making, they are nevertheless becoming less creative.
There are many reasons for this - stagnating culture (how many Superman movies will you all make?!), the use of AI that has been trained on WHAT EXISTED BEFORE, and your degrading attention spans preventing the deep focus that may be required for inspired creation.
The linked article is a thoughtful reflection on how algorithmic culture drives everyone towards homogeneity. Please read the whole post, but here's an excerpt:
"On the surface, social media seems like the perfect system to differentiate yourself. You can customise your profiles to best reflect your personality, and showcase your unique experiences on Instagram and your unique points of view on Twitter.
But underneath all the superficial posturing, social media, and the wider online ecosystem, is quietly making you just like everyone else, and in so doing it’s eroding both your individuality and your creativity."
